Fair and equitable Rehabilitation Counselling

Not every injured worker is appointed an experienced Rehabilitation Counsellor. Does this make a difference to their rehab journey and outcomes? It can - but it won’t if systemised biopsychosocial processes are in place. ''It Pays to Care'' is a drive to promote national discussion about core elements of fair and efficient workers compensation schemes. A key requirement is the systematic capture of psychosocial information for individual claims with proactive management of biopsychosocial risks. Rehabilitation Providers who prioritise developing clients’ trust and who use structured resources to assess and manage biopsychosocial risk, offer a rehabilitation model that can be consistently delivered by newly trained, as well as highly experienced practitioners. Dr Garton will discuss the critical components of biopsychosocial resources to engage clients and ensure data enables standardised assessment, individually tailored intervention, and evaluation. Training in systemised biopsychosocial processes will ensure Rehabilitation Counsellors are key contributors to the ‘It Pays to Care' approach.
