Supporting Migrant and Refugee Clients with a Disability

Any interaction you have with a client can create misunderstanding that causes worse outcomes. When you work with clients from other cultures or language groups this risk increases significantly. This presentation will give you an ideas of common cultural differences and how to prevent misunderstanding based on culture or language.

About the Presenter

Sophie commenced at the Centre for Culture, Ethnicity and Health (CEH) in 2016, bringing more than 15 years’ experience working with refugees, asylum seekers and migrant populations in the area of health education, HIV/AIDS and employment support. Her focus at CEH has been the development of culturally responsive resources for communities and the health sector about Covid-19 and the NDIS. She holds a Masters of Journalism, Bachelor of Law, and Graduate Diploma in Counselling.
